Adding your content
There are two ways to add something:
- Drag files onto the Library page in the app, or
- Copy them into the matching folder under
./mnt/bibliup-app/and press Scan for new files on the Library page.
There is no allowlist: you decide what to add, and everything is kept word for word.

Good to know
- A file can sit in a collection folder (
bibles/Public/kjv.xml) or straight in the type's folder (bibles/kjv.xml). Folders only organise; with sign-in on, content labels decide who can see what. - Concordances and dictionaries share one XML root and are told apart by the folder you use. A commentary you only have as a PDF goes under Books.
- Concordances and interlinears are one type, word studies, in the
word-studiesfolder: each file is read by its contents, so a whole download can go in one folder. STEPBible's TAHOT and TAGNT files, TEHMC and TEGMC, and TBESH and TBESG from STEPBible-Data go together, for example inword-studies/StepBible. The data is CC BY 4.0 and asks for the credit "STEP Bible" linked to www.STEPBible.org, which is yours to give where you host it. The Berean tables (public domain) go in there too. - Audio needs transcription turned on first (see Audio, images and AI models). It is converted and transcribed on the way in, and you set the title, speaker and language in the Waiting to be added list. The spoken language you choose is kept: Re-transcribe in Library -> Manage uses it again, or lets you pick another.
- The Apocrypha is indexed if your Bibles carry it, but stays out of search results and chat answers until each reader turns it on in Settings -> Bibles.
- Re-index a changed file from Library -> Manage with no restart. Uploads are capped at
MAX_UPLOAD_BYTES(50 GiB) and stream to disk. - Reading offline: Download a Bible from Library -> Bibles to keep it in that browser, on that device.
A minimal Bible file
Book numbers are the canonical 1-66. A commentary is the same shape with type="x-commentary".
