Backups and your data
Everything Bibliup keeps lives in the mnt folder next to the code. To back up:
docker compose down- Copy the whole
mntfolder somewhere safe. docker compose up -d
What is in there
| Folder | What it holds | Can it be rebuilt? |
|---|---|---|
mnt/bibliup-app/ | Your files: Bibles, books, audio and the rest, and everyone's notes | No, these are yours |
mnt/mongo/ | Each person's settings, chat history, bookmarks and note shares | No |
mnt/bibliup-app/images/ | Generated images, if you turned images on | No: a regenerated image is a different image |
mnt/elasticsearch/ | The search index | Yes, from your files |
mnt/localai/ | The downloaded AI models | Yes, they download again (several GB, so you may skip it) |
Windows hosts
Check docker compose logs mongo once after the first start. MongoDB is picky about Docker Desktop bind mounts; if
it will not start, point its volume in docker-compose.yml at a WSL2 path.
